If you can create some time to get out of the buzzing Lagos city, there is another historic city named Abeokuta. This city is just about an hour drive from Lagos and here you are in for some lovely scenery of old and ancient but interesting houses built centuries ago but which are still standing.

Abeokuta is a rocky city and some of these rocks have historical significance. Some of these rocks served as protection for the ancient warriors against invaders of the city many centuries ago. You can also visit the local textile factories where lots of local fabrics are produced.

There are plenty of other places you can visit in the South-Western part of Nigeria and it should be noted that planning a visit to South-Western Nigeria is quite cheap and worthwhile. There are lots of 4-5 star hotels spread across the cities of Western Nigeria, food is cheap and it is easy to get around the region.
