Vegas Escapade

If the state of Nevada is the human body, then the city of Las Vegas would have to be the gut of the state. Nothing and no one goes through Nevada without passing through Las Vegas! How could you? It's electric! It's hot and heavy, thermometer-topping good vibrations!

As the skyscrapers of Las Vegas ascend into view, your skin gets prickly as you envision all the fun you're planning to have, while you brow furrows thinking of sweating in the heat and sweltering humidity. Grandma always said that the best way to beat the heat is to stay out of it. But how can you enjoy a fast track town like Vegas and stay indoors? Shopping, that's the ticket!

The Hot Spots

The beeping and flashing casinos that illuminate the strip are well endowed with man-made mazes of stores.

Caesar's Palace boasts a Gucci Store, Guess Store and a two-storey Nike Town. So, hey ... let the games begin! Up and down the strip, in and out of each hotel you will be able to satisfy your hunger for trendy boutiques, athletic, specialty, novelty stores and even more.

The robust Aladdin hotel is one of many that is chocked full of interesting kiosks. Inside you can find boutiques selling sexy sarongs, long enchanting scarves and more. You might even catch a live show featuring decorated belly dancers.

A frappachino that could have your name on it is waiting for you at the Starbucks just down the hall.

Not Just The "In" Thing

As popular as the Rio's seafood buffet, a Las Vegas shopping spree wouldn't be complete without a stop at one of the bordering outlet malls. Both outlet malls are complete with every store you could possible think of, more than would satisfy even the most picky or penny-pinching of shoppers. And I should know ... because I'm both.

Don't forget the little people

Keeping the flow with the changing times, Vegas isn't just for honey-mooners anymore. Various hotels pride themselves on being able to entertain the little ones as well as adults. Sky high rollercoaster rides, carnivals, animal exhibits, pools, malls, food and fun abound for any age group in the city that never sleeps.

Oldies but Goodies

Though the newer hotels are equipped with exorbitantly lavish suites, mouth-watering menu items and fancy schmancy decor, Las Vegas' main attraction is still its gambling. And there's gambling a plenty around.

You can find slots at the local AM/PM, Fat Burgers and even McDonald's. Gambling is available anywhere a slot machine will fit.

The gambling has gotten livelier with the addition of electronic gaming cards and the use of debit cards at the pump.

And to add to your gambling pleasure, 24-hour restaurants, free drinks, and live in-house bands are a few of the charms you will be lucky to receive if you stay at certain welcoming hotels. Harrah's being one of them. Harrah's just recently added a satellite addition to their family by branching out to San Diego, California. I hear their prime rib dinner is to die for.

The Vegas Legacy

Traveling the Las Vegas strip either by foot, bike, or rented wheels is indeed a sight to see.

Who can resist the golden glaze of a Krispy Kreme donut blazing in neon lights?

Or anticipating the thunderous crunch of a giant M&M?

The refreshing thoughts of plummeting through chutes at the Wet 'N' Wild water park, voted in the top ten, make for a trip that you can't take only once.

Let's not forget Vegas can be an economically sound trip if planned well and early. Grab your sunscreen and extendable bags because there are specials abound all over the net, and one is just waiting for you.
