A Holiday on the Gold Coast of Australia

Coolangatta beachfront
As arguably Australia's top tourist region, the Gold Coast is famous for its beaches, navigable waterways, scenic mountain ranges, world heritage listed national parks, diverse range of night life activities, modern accommodation and a sub-tropical climate.
The Gold Coast attracts over 3 million visitors per year who come to enjoy all that this popular destination within the South East of Queensland, Australia offers.
The region starts at Coolangatta and extends along almost 60 kilometres of coastline to the north and inland to the spectacular scenic wonder of nature that is the Hinterland region.
At the centre of it all is Surfers Paradise, a well known suburb for its party atmosphere by night and from the hosting of major events such as the Gold Coast Indy, Magic Millions Carnival and several local events such as the Schoolies festival.
Other popular suburbs within the region include Sanctuary Cove, Runaway Bay, Southport, Main Beach, Broadbeach, Mermaid Beach, Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach, Currumbin and Coolangatta.
Major attractions on the Gold Coast include the casino and convention centre at Broadbeach, Sea World marine park at Main Beach, the wildlife sanctuary at Currumbin, and 15-20 kilometres north you can find major theme parks including Movie World, Wet n Wild and Dreamworld.
Marina Mirage and the Broadwater also provide access to a broad range of water based activities ranging from fishing charters and boat hire through to jet ski hire, jet boat rides and much more.

Coastline from Miami to Surfers
Holiday accommodation is abundant and ranges from camping and caravan parks to luxury hotels and fully serviced penthouse apartments. Apartments are a popular form of accommodation throughout the region and many offer kitchen and laundry facilities which for the budget conscious traveler can provide some savings. Many of the apartment complexes also offer resort style facilities including gymnasiums, pools, games rooms and landscaped areas.
The price for accommodation can depend on seasonal variations of which peak times include school holiday periods and peak holiday period from December through to early February. Major events, such as the Indy Carnival, can also place accommodation in high demand. Also influential on price is which level of the building (some of the high rise apartments provide spectacular views), room facilities along with proximity to beach.
Tourist parks are also popular with many located on or very near to the beach. Overall, the holiday accommodation in the region is of a high standard.
