About you.
Who can write a WiZZ Travel Article?
Anybody really! If you want to help other travelers and tourists have the best possible experience when they visit the region you write about, then we want to hear from you.
You do not have to be a professional writer, and you do not even need to have traveled the world.
You could be any of the following people:
- You really love where you are living and would like the whole world to come and visit. Nobody is going to know the place better than you!
- You just returned from an adventure to the greatest place on earth and want everybody to know what they're missing.
- You have spent months preparing and researching for that well earned holiday and don't want to keep all the secrets to yourself.
- You're an armchair traveler and just love writing great travel articles.
- You have a tourism and travel related website and would not mind getting a link in return for a good article about your region
.
About your article.
Article criteria.
- Minimum 2000 characters (about 350 words).
- Maximum 6000 characters (about 1000 words).
- You can submit an article with or without images. Read the section about photographs below for photo requirements.
Writing tips and suggestions.
- Provide objective, honest and unbiased information.
- Write about the main attractions and sights, and don't forget the little things that make the region so special.
- Write as if you are writing for a travel guidebook of the region of your choice, don't write personal stories. Avoid "I" and "we" etc, and do not write about one-off events which will make your article obsolete in the future.
- Write for the whole world, your article will be read by people on the other side of the globe:
- Some words have different meanings depending on location.
- Do not only address people in your own country.
- Careful when you make comparisons: a holiday to Greece is not far away if you live in Turkey, but is a a long way from Vancouver!
- You can concentrate on certain regional subjects, for example the natural attractions of the region, or the specific historical features and attractions.
- You can use the internet and encyclopedias to research your article, but you can' t just copy the information.
- Don't be too general, be specific. Don't write things everybody knows.
For example, don't just write "Hawaii has fantastic beaches" but actually tell people which ones, why they are the best, and where to find them.
- Add photos:
- Well chosen images show what the article is about, and encourage reading.
- Photos make the article easier to read.
- Articles with images are more likely to be copied and re-published.
- Include a top ten. Lists make reading your article easy, and help people plan.
- Avoid time sensitive information. Sometimes price information or dates can be important for the information in your article. However, make sure your article stays relevant for the future. For example if you include information about a yearly festival, do not use this year's date but refer to approximate time the festival occurs every year.
- Use a basic text editor like Notepad if you want to prepare your article before submitting it. If you have prepared your article in Word for example, use the special buttons (
and
) of the article editor on the submission page to paste your content.
Article ideas.
The main aim of your article should be to provide reliable information for tourists and travelers who might never have visited the area and who might know very little if anything about the region.
- Natural attractions: include detailed information about location, best time of year to visit, walking tracks etc.
- Local tourist or scenic drives: best places to stop and why, picnic or eateries along the way etc.
About your photographs.
Photos can be uploaded by the author of an article when the article is submitted.
Articles with quality images are more likely to be sponsored.
If an article is submitted without images, then there will be a link above the article to the form where you can upload your images. The link to the form will look like this:
